Conocido como” El Pelotero de América” fue Jugador Más Valioso en 1942-43…líder en jonrones en 1942-43 (4) y 1944-45 (3)…líder en carreras empujadas en 1945-46 (32)…líder en dobles en 1942-43 (11)…líder en triples en 1940-41 (10)…líder en “slugging” en 1942-43 (.500)…conectó tres triples vs. Ponce (2/2/41)…de por vida, está octavo en triples (35)…como jugador/dirigente guió a los Criollos de Caguas al campeonato en 1949-50…seleccionado Dirigente del Año en seis ocasiones. Seleccionado como el Jugador Más Valioso de la Serie del Caribe de 1951. Electo al Pabellón de la Fama del Deporte Puertorriqueño (1963), Salón de la Fama del Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico (1992) y Salón de la Fama de la Serie del Caribe (2004). Fue Escucha de los Bravos de Milwaukee y Medias Blancas de Chicago. Ganador del Premio Pedrin Zorrilla en el 2013 e igualmente fue seleccionado como uno de los mejores 75 jugadores de la Liga de Béisbol Profesional del Puerto Rico. En el 2014 fue ganador del prestigioso Premio Francisco ¨Pancho¨ Coimbre. Igualmente, se otorga anualmente el Premio Presidencial Luis Rodríguez Olmo, que reconoce al pelotero que, a discreción del presidente de la LBPRC y con el aval de la Junta de directores, haya demostrado un continuo y fiel compromiso con la LBPRC, siendo un digno embajador.
Known as “El Pelotero de Las Américas,” he was an MVP in 1942-43… leader in home runs in 1942-43 (4) and 1944-45 (3) … leader in RBIs in 1945-46 (32) … leader in doubles in 1942-43 (11) … leader in triples in 1940-41 (10)… leader in slugging in 1942-43 (.500)… He hit three triples vs. Ponce (2/2/41) … Lifetime, he is eighth in triples (35) … as a player/manager he guided Criollos de Caguas to the championship in 1949-50… selected Manager of the Year six times. Won the Most Valuable Player Award of the 1951 Caribbean Series. Elected to the Puerto Rican Sports Hall of Fame (1963), Puerto Rico Professional Baseball Hall of Fame (1992) and Caribbean Series Hall of Fame (2004). He was a scout for the Milwaukee Braves and Chicago White Sox. Winner of the Pedrin Zorrilla Award in 2013 and was also selected as one of the best 75 players in the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball League. In 2014 he was the winner of the prestigious Francisco “Pancho” Coimbre Award. Likewise, the Luis Rodrguez Olmo Presidential Award is awarded annually, which recognizes the player who, at the discretion of the president of the LBPRC and with the endorsement of the Board of Directors, has demonstrated a continuous improvement..
